Morning Ladies,
Wanted to ask if anyone is going to our May Guild Meeting? Sharon Schamber is the speaker, & she is VERY talented!!! She does AMAZING piecing, applique, AND long arm quilting. She comes from a couture sewing background & uses that knowledge & skill in her world of quilting. Check out her website Sharon Schamber If you're available, & interested this is a meeting not to be missed! Needless to say, I am planning to attend!
Did anyone watch HGTV Spice Up My Kitchen last evening?! Yep, Tammy & Glen's kitchen was on!!! If you missed it, Tammy says it will be aired multiple times, so watch for it!!! Their kitchen is iNcReDiBlE!!!
Mare - how is your string piecing going? Do you use a foundation? Hey, it is Tuesday 10/28/08 that we're to fly to Houston!!! Keep us posted! Since tomorrow is the 1st, you should be able to book, right? Let us know if there's anything we need to do, & tell us how much we need to pay you!?
Jean - how did the grads like their quilts?! I bet they were pleasantly surprised!!! ; ) Hey, I see you are going to teach your Beach Blanket @ Cloth & Bobbin! Nice! : ) How was last evening's confirmation? You had good weather for it!
Lois - has your daughter & family come for their visit yet?! I can imagine how EXCITED you & George must be!!! Have FUN! ; )
Enjoy your day, girls!

Good Evening Girls,
It's soggy. Jingle & I are waiting for the rain to slow down a little. Regardless, I'm pretty sure we're going to come home WET! April showers, right...?! ; )
Momma Barb - look @ you posting on the blog?!?!?! ; ) You surprised me! Glad if you're SEW happy with the little Singer Featherweight! Has your "new" machine arrived yet...?!
Mare - glad to hear that Nicole is home! BMC doesn't finish 'til the 18th. Jean - when is SJ done?
Peggy - how is your foot?! Did you go back to work today?! Hey, congrats on soon becoming a Grandma! : )
Lois - thanks for the mulch info. I'm not sure where the incinerator is... How's your pond & the fish?!
LA - how is that baby doing?! How are you feeling?! How is your home...has work on the addition begun?!
Nothing too new here...we had FUN with Momma Barb this past weekend!!! We went to the Horse Races!!! I'd never been there. I won $1.20!!! Jingle traveled well & was well behaved too - thankfully! ; ) We have an appointment to meet with another architect this week. We are continuing to evolve our plans & choices, but there's no real forward momentum yet. I think it's gonna be a while.
Stay dry & enjoy your evening! Sew & have a nice cup of tea.

Good Evening Girls,
Things have been a little chaotic around here. We made arrangements to meet with an architect this morning, then the contractor called & wanted to come by again, + he wanted to bring his plumber. We had 3 men waiting for us when we arrived home from work this morning, & another showed up too! Whew!!! The meeting with the architect went very well, & he gave us some amazing ideas & food for thought!!! Lots to think about, research & plan for...?! Scary, but exciting too...!?
The Kirby's HGTV Spice Up My Kitchen should be airing next week!!! Watch for it!!! I got a look @ the new digs, & it's been quite an amazing transformation!!! Tammy was SO glad ALL the choices were made for her! I can certainly understand her perspective!!!
This Spring has been one of our worst ever allergy seasons!!! Scott & I are both suffering with nose & eye symptoms. We'd like to CLAW our eyes out!!! It's been terrible!!! This has made sewing problematic for me. : /
So...sew...I've been just simply doing a little hand quilting. I'm making progress & it feels GOOD to sew something! It sounds like you all have been BUSY sewing!!! That's AWESOME! : )
I have a few seedlings coming up in my little "green houses" upstairs. We'll see how they do. I planted some herbs out in the garden this week & shared some tarragon with a neighbor.
Tomorrow we're heading to Momma Barb's for a weekend visit! We're celebrating a belated birthday & early Mother's Day with her!!! : ) I can't tell you more about it, in case she reads this I don't want to spoil any surprises...!!! ; )
How did the Penn Relay's go? What other news is there? Enjoy the beautiful weather & stitch outside a bit if you get the chance!

Hello, 'mamas! How is it going? Last night was fun! Peggy came - right from dinner with friends at Outback - prompting several minutes of extolling the virtues of the blooming onion. It was good to see her after her little hiatus. She's feeling better - and shared some good news. She's going to be a grandmother in September - joining Lois in those noble ranks. Congrats to Peggy and Richie - and they just found out yesterday that it's going to be girl. Mazel tov! Marianne recounted her adventures during a trip to visit Georgetown - hilarious! Mare had lots of show & tell - she finished her southwest quilt top - it is just beautiful! She had a bunch of disappearing nine patch blocks too - very pretty. And she put her scraps to good use making some string blocks - she will demo at our next sewing day. She had a truly productive week and also had time to make some delicious chocolate chip cookies for her family which were so good - the kids were drawn to them like magnets! Leigh Anne scaled the driveway and looks great. Cathy had a cute party pillowcase. Lois came and is getting so excited for Kara's visit. I finished all four of the student quilts - yahoo! Labeled them after everyone left - and they're in the gift bags - whew!!!! We had a very nice apple cake for Peggy - thanks Mare. Hope the relays went well - we missed those who couldn't come. Mare just posted some important info about flights on Southwest - be sure to read it. Is one person going to purchase all the tickets - did we decide how we're going to do this? I think we're leaving on Tuesday, October 28th - but we might want to have Pam confirm that. Getting excited for this trip - it'll be a fun thing to look forward to in the fall. Everyone have a lovely day.....see y'all soon, I hope. Piece....

Good GORGEOUS!!! Morning Ladies,
Isn't it a picture perfect day?! I have wash out on the line!!! Mare - do you too?!
Lois - how is your pond?! How are your garden beds doing?! What's blooming?! Blog & tell us, please!? : )
Last evening I went into the City to attend the Obama Rally. It was REALLY something!!! I've NEVER done anything like this before & didn't know what to expect. I went by myself. It was a beautiful evening. : ) The crowd was MASSIVE, & I was SO impressed with how calm, interested, interesting & supportive EVERYONE was. It was ELECTRIC! Here is a link to the Barack Obama website with an article from 2 Philadelphia newspapers about the event. History was being made - I thought it was a unique opportunity to be a witness & active participant! It makes the hair on my arms stand up!!! Afterward, EVERYONE was chanting O-BAM-A as we streamed out of the field. Cars stopped, honking their horns in approval. It was one of the most magical & inspirational experiences I've ever had. Thanks for allowing me to share this with you. I'm not a zealot, but I am PASSIONATE about this Primary Election & the future of our Country. PLEASE, get out & vote on Tuesday!!!
Enjoy your weekend.

Here are 3 "art" quilts that I admired @ the Lancaster Quilt Show. Hope you like them too. ; )
We had our first contractor encounter this morning... He was nice & things went fine. We'll see what we hear back from him. I was making baked oatmeal & he was practically salivating - cute! ; ) Also, he thought we were a bit out of our minds with some of the "green-ness"...sorgum, he said...?! Kirei...?! ; )
Hope you are getting outside & in the sunshine a bit each day. It's glorious!!!

Good Evening Girls,
Thinking healthy thoughts here... Scott & I made the switch to whole wheat pasta & bread a while ago. Recently, I have been trying out brown rice recipes. This evening I made a baked brown rice recipe that was EASY & it worked! Gotta love that. ; ) I have a baked oatmeal recipe that I may try next...
Also, bought a pomegranate from Market a bit ago. Finally, scraped out those little miracle seeds. They're on a salad for each of us to take to work tonight.
This weekend I bought a papaya @ Market. I've never eaten one before. I needed to read what to do with it. Currently, it's ripening on our counter top. We'll see...
What's new in your kitchens? Any good recipes? Any healthy food suggestions? I am ALL about antioxidants!!! Soup weather is nearing it's seasonal end, so I have to find other ways to incorporate healthy into our diets. Do I sound old? Maybe you shouldn't answer that...
Mare - would you PLEASE share your pizza dough recipe?! Tell me how you make it using whole wheat flour. Thanks.
Enjoy your evening. The weather has been NICE! Enjoy it too!!!

3 more pictures of quilts from the Lancaster Show. I'm sticking with a "nature theme" today. Enjoy. : )
Outdoors, my pea seeds are coming up!!! So is my lettuce! Friday & today I planted indoor mini "green houses" Anything from red 4:0'clocks, to zinnias, to pink holly hocks, to heirloom paste tomatoes, to sweet basil, to flat leaf parsley. Some of the seeds are old...it's been maybe 2 years since I've started seeds indoors. We'll see how it goes & how they grow...?! I'll keep you posted. ; )
The phone is ringing, I must run! I hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Girls,
It was certainly a lot of FUN to see everyone last evening, to see Show 'n Tell, AND to see what projects everyone is working on! : ) Jean - thanks SEW much for hosting!!! I LOVE the variety of stitching we are doing! For me, SHARING is the BEST part though...sharing books, tips, techniques, websites, ideas, thoughts, recipes, funny stories...you get the idea! Thanks girls!!!
Today Scott & I went to The Environmental HomeStore a "green store" for the home. WOWSER!!! They had a LOT to think about!!! Some of the products we're interested in are: Blazestone Tiles , pronounced KeyRay wood products AND Icestone Any opinions are welcome...?!
I am glad to hear that you guys read & find the blog helpful...like the Disappearing 9 Patch link, the link to The Christmas Shoppe, viewing pics from the Lancaster Quilt Show, etc. Sometimes I think to myself, "I wonder if anyone is even reading this stuff...?!" I may try & post some more Lancaster pictures tomorrow...stay tuned...
Meanwhile, enjoy this BEAUTIFUL evening!!!

Good Evening Girls,
Wasn't today's weather just gorgeous?! My wash dried, & it SMELLS so good!!! How does that happen...?!
We heard from Momma Barb & Karen this evening. : ) They are in Chicago for the Quilt Show! Barb says the Best of Show winner is a Rooster, & it was done by a man (not Phil Beaver).
Speaking of Quilt Shows. This morning I told my boss that I will need off for the Houston Quilt Show. She said, "O.K. We'll have to talk to Kay about it, but you've paid your dues & sometimes your personal life takes priority." Does that mean I'll have off...?!?!?! I feel better having finally said something!
Jean - I'll be there tomorrow evening. I may be a little bit late, it depends on my Jingle walk, & dinner. Who else will be there?! Looking forward to seeing you gals!

Good Evening Girls,
How's your weekend going? Mine has been good. : )
Yesterday evening we took Jingle & Jake down to the school fields. That was a first. Usually they just play in Jake's front yard or occasionally in our backyard. At the park they could REALLY RUN & play together!!! It was FUN to watch them! ; )
Today I hung wash out on the line - it dried! I pin basted my Alaska quilt project - hooray! Now, to quilt it... I also worked out in the yard a bit this afternoon...pulling weeds, raking leaves, turning over garden beds & being pleased with earth worms.
Jean - how is your powder room coming along? Did you check out The Christmas Shoppe website? I bought a few things from their booth too. I really liked their patterns & had a difficult time choosing. According to our Quilt Show booklet, next year's Lancaster Quilt Show is scheduled for April 2 - 5. About Houston airfare/tickets. Scott & I had to wait until we were 6 weeks out from Disney before airline tickets were available, but I think you CAN purchase tickets up to 90 days in advance...hmmm, I don't know the answer to your question.
Cath - glad you got your Gumdrops pattern! : ) What will you be working on next?
Lori - hey, GLAD to hear the clear & smoke threads worked!!! WOW, I bet it feels GOOD to have that BIG project finished!!! Wahoo!!!
Dolores - what sewing did you get done while Joe Byrnes was in Disney?!
I did a little sewing on my Pickle Dish project this week. I didn't have to rip out EVERY seam...! I wanted to count & see how many arcs I'd completed. Yeh, 13. I need to make something ridiculous, like 246!!! What, only 233 more to go... I MUST be out of my mind!?!?!? I am also beginning to work on a new hand applique project. It's using a pattern from The Christmas Shoppe booth.
Looking forward to next Friday evening, but feel like I will miss everyone on Tuesday. Enjoy your evening & have a FUN tomorrow!
