Really?? It's All About Me??

Welcome to the Quiltmamas blog. We are a tiny little blog that chronicles our bee group - the Quiltmamas. We are a diverse group of ten ladies and we love to sew and chat! I maintain the blog and have hijacked it for a couple of days to participate in All About Me. This is my first blog hop and I'm grateful to our fearless leader, Madame Samm, the hop cheerleader, Marlene from Stitchin by the Lake and especially Amy Bradley for her terrific pattern.

I tried to think of the things that describe me or define me as an adult. Besides being a wife and Mom, which I love, what else is there about me? Three things came to mind:

1. Being a quiltmama - being part of this group of wonderful women and creating quilts has been such a blessing in my life. I don't know where I'd be without them.

2. Being Irish - I am extremely proud of my Irish heritage - talking about that could take up a whole post....moving on....

3. Being a parrothead - I love Jimmy Buffett's music - and his fans are known as 'parrotheads'. It's not just the music that's appealing - it's the flip-flops, sand in my toes, nowhere to go and all day to get there, umbrella drink mentality that goes along with it.

So without further ado....All About Me!

Note the umbrella drink, the flower in my hair, my beach bag and my hawaiian shirt (Don Ho would be proud of my collection of shirts!) Sure and there's a sprinkling of shamrocks too!

Monday's mindlessness....

Hello, ladies...hope you all had a nice weekend. LA, Consuelo, Mare and I had a brush with greatness on Friday night.....Delaware County's version of Dancing with the Stars....it was terrific!!! Will share details at bee...

The 'All About Me' blog hop continues today.....check out the Stash Manicure link to the right....my day is Wednesday...I'm excited! 'I' am currently hanging in my kitchen on the quilt rack and making me laugh.

If you need tickets to the Sean Patrick's Day benefit, I have them.

I can host bee on Thursday......my family is headed to the basketball banquet - and I get to stay home....yay! So come on by if you want....

Bon mots on Monday

Good morning, ladies!! Happy Monday and Happy Presidents' Day! Thank you all for coming to the tea yesterday...Pam and LA - we missed you. It was nice to catch up with everyone!

The ladies......

Here's the recipe for 'Best Ever Chocolate Cake'.....

3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
6 T. baking cocoa
2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
2 c. water
2/3 c. vegetable oil
2 t. white vinegar
2 t. vanilla extract

Combine first five ingredients in a bowl. Add the water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat on low for 1 minute. Beat on medium for 1 minute.
Pour into a greased 13x9x2 pan. Bake at 350 for 35 to 38 minutes - test for doneness. Cool on rack.

Frosting

1 c. cold milk
1 pkg (3.9 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix ** chocolate is good too**
1 tub cool whip

Beat the pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Beat in the whipped topping. Spread over the cake. Refrigerate.

LA just missed you guys. She came in to chat for a bit.

Lois brought some of her scrappy trip around the world blocks - really terrific. Can't wait to see the finished quilt - it's for a very special couple - I won't say more until it's official!

Monday moments......

Did you all have a nice weekend? The snow wasn't as bad as it could have been, that's for sure!

Did you get any sewing done? I finished a double/queen size quilt top. I also made this pillow for a little dude who likes rainbows...

Hopping around blogland last week, I saw this really cool quilt - neat use of colors and black/white.

Heard a commercial on the radio last week for a hair care product - they called it a great addition to your 'beauty toolbox'! Consuelo - help me out here - what is a beauty toolbox? Do you have one? Is this something I missed in my teens? Oy! Are there beauty power tools? Please fill me in, oh beauty-wise one!!

Next Sunday is February 17th......1:00 PM. The answer will turn up in your mailbox this week - hope you are available.

Monday meanderings....

Oy......how about that snow this morning! What did that stupid groundhog say on Saturday - an early spring, right? Moral of that story - never trust a rodent!

Anyone watch the super bowl last night? It was a good game......who else slipped out of the room at 9:00 to watch Downton Abbey? The lights-out game delay worked out just great. Still lots of game after Downton was over. The commercials were pretty good - lots of funny ones. I did not see Beyonce singing at half-time - I scrubbed a bathroom instead. A little exercise in between eating junk!

I took off today to have a relaxing sewing day - I have to make three dozen cupcakes, get a tiny baby gift and make a small wallhanging to give as a gift tomorrow evening - decided that yesterday.....best get cracking - hope to be showing you a show & tell picture by this afternoon. So much for relaxing!
