Wednesday wanderings....

Hey, girls.....how's the week going? A couple of folks are going through some difficult days (Ethel - you know I"m thinking of you).....thought I'd share some cool stuff I found on the web:
http://www.littlemissshabby.com/ - check out how she hand-quilted this quilt - very cool. It gives it a completely different look.
http://wildolive.blogspot.com/2011/03/family-week-make-family-crest.html - if you were going to create a little family crest for your family - what would you include? It's difficult to pick - the girls and I were discussing it last night - neat to see the different viewpoints
http://www.twomoreseconds.com/ - she's hosting a 'mug rug madness' - some really cool ones. I love the blogger featured today - BettyCrockerAss! In my house, it's more like BettyCrockerMyAss! http://www.flamingotoes.com/2011/03/get-your-peeps-on-spring-printables/ - get your peeps on - awesome!
http://littlebirdiesecrets.blogspot.com/2011/03/raspberry-or-strawberry-free-crochet.html - is that not the cutest baby you've ever seen???
http://wendigratz.blogspot.com/2011/03/show-tell-time.html - some chick named quiltmamajb has a couple of pictures on here......oy.
Hope this was instructional/inspirational/amusing - or just plain took your mind away for a while.....take care, ladies.

Spring....what????

What was that white stuff this morning? Was it gigantic pollen? Spring is here, right? Oy! Hope you're all having a nice day. A fun bee last night. Thanks for hosting, Cathy. She's off from school this week and off from work today...planning to spend the day sewing, right? LA came - she's planning a machine applique hanging to work on in Lancaster. Lori made one of those taggie lions from the link that I sent a few days ago - it is adorable! Maybe she will bring her ribbons to Lancaster and we can make a few? Hint, hint.....and she had a beautiful baby quilt and she was sewing the binding as we talked. We talked about the blog smackdown that went on yesterday starting with Nancy from near Philadelphia. Craziness....I made a little bag for my niece, a zippered clutch from the recent Quilts and More and a blockhead! We talked briefly about the upcoming trip - we probably won't meet again before we go - so we can make arrangements through the blog and emails. Pam - we miss you - haven't seen you in ages. I got an email from her this morning - she's doing great - very busy with work, the beach house, the garden and life in general. She's not sure about Lancaster - is everyone else on board? We may have 8! LA - forgot to ask - are you going to make the dinner reservation? If you don't have time, just let me know...I"m happy to call them. Anyone have any fun weekend plans...besides Leigh Anne heading to Lancaster for a spelling bee! Have f-u-n!! I have to hit Joann's for supplies and batting for the trip. The excitement is building......see you soon. Piece......

Happy Belated....

National Quilt Day. It was yesterday....hope you did something 'quilty'. We had a nice time at the quilt show. Pam - did you go on Friday? There were some beautiful quilts, lots of vendors and a very nice exhibit of Karen Kay Buckley's quilts. Lori was very restrained in her purchases- a yard of fabric and some thread, Dolores got some beautiful fabric bundles, batting and some thread she was looking for, I got one of those 5 yds fabric bundles and a cute pattern/kit from Traditions at the White Swan - happy to see them there. Lois did very well - she got a lovely quilt stand, a cute stitchery pattern, some batting and an adorable pattern to make her first quilt for the stand. I may have forgotten some things.....it was a terrific day and a good warm-up for the Lancaster weekend. Mare - what's going on with you? Maureen - how did the auction go? Cath - hope you got to relax a little bit and celebrate your birthday. LA - nice to see you briefly last night - hope you aren't crushed with sports just yet. Cathy has offered to host bee on Wednesday night.....hope to see you there to catch up. Enjoy this beautiful Sunday! Piece....

Tuesday blahs....

Hello.....it's Tuesday. Not much else to say - except it's not Monday anymore. Not a whole lot going on....hope you all had a nice weekend. Wanted to share a blog that I found - this woman creates some amazing things. Here's the link: http://flossieblossoms.blogspot.com/. Just take a look at the first two posts - the Rainbow Village and then the Castle Teacup Pincushion. Aren't they something! What an imagination.....love her colors too. Pam - hope Rocco enjoyed his first birthday party. I imagine is was quite an event. Good to hear that Gracie is back home and back to work. Anyone have any big St. Patrick's Day plans? Burkie and I snuck out to Peabody's on Sunday afternoon for a few pints in case Thursday gets too busy. Wishing you all the luck of the Irish - even if you aren't........piece....

The weekend...

is almost here...thank goodness. This seemed like an extra long week for some reason. Hope everyone survived the monsoons yesterday. Have you seen the photos coming out of Japan. The sheer force of the water is frightening to see....houses and cars tossed about like they were toys. Lots of thoughts and prayers headed their way. Thanks to those who came to bee last night - and we missed those who couldn't come. Lori had a cute table runner almost ready to go for St. Patrick's Day. Lois decided to make yo-yos for the centers of the white blocks on her batik bake-shop quilt. It'll look really cool. LA looks very well - just a little tired. Grandpop and Grandmom are hanging in. We talked a little bit about Lancaster, Lois' trip to see her Mom, the possible challenge (little quilts) and life in general. Cath - hope you did well on your test. Is Kerry getting back today? LA has her projects packed already for Lancaster. Pam - we talked about the Lancaster quilt show next weekend. I can't take off on Friday - Lori mentioned that she might be able to go on Friday. Don't forget to move your clocks forward tomorrow night - love those bright evenings after dinner. Have a terrific weekend, girls......piece.

Random musings....

Hello, ladies.....a few random things today. First - a giant HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mama Barb! Enjoy your day!! I forgot to mention in the weekend wrap-up - we came up with a 'challenge' idea - or possibly a different spin on the pollyanna next year. We can talk about it in Lancaster. Welcome back from Ohio, Lois. Hope your Mom is well. Speaking of well.....Dolores - how is Gracie? I have a back-up machine I can bring over tonight if you are in need/withdrawal. Pam - did you have a nice weekend at the beach? Sunday was a lovely day. Cath - are you on spring break next week? LA - thinking of you - how's Grandpop? Good luck to the girls working on the auction this weekend. I'm sure you're looking forward to Sunday! Consuelo - I'll drop off your pirate CD this weekend. Girls....I'll leave you with a few bits of 'country wisdom'

Unattractive: He was so ugly as a baby, they fed him with a slingshot.

Not facing reality: My dog sleeps in the garage but that don't make him no truck.
