Another Manic Monday?

Not really...it is actually really nice out there today. After the heavens opening and giving us all the rain in one week that had been saved up all summer...it's finally sunny. Hope everyone survived all the storms with little damage. Pam - how did you make out at the beach? The biggest adventure I had was attending LA's demonstration in the dark! A big question, of course, is how is Gracie doing? Back home and working well? And how is the visit going for the Italians? I guess they haven't used the pool too much?! I believe Mare and the world travelers get back tomorrow. Can't wait to hear details about the trip. I guess the packing for school has begun....good luck to Kerry, Billy and Jimmy as they head into another year. Lois - how is the visit with the grandkids? I know they're headed back soon....give them some hugs from us. I ran into Maureen Hoffman in Joann's on Saturday - she's just as feisty as ever....love that woman. Enjoy this lovely day......I go back to work on Wednesday - so the girls and I are heading down to Cape May for the day tomorrow - get that last walk on the beach, last box of fudge and maybe a sweatshirt for the winter!!! Take care ladies.....piece.

A new holiday and a confession....

A new holiday.....last Friday evening, Burkie and Erin were online trying to figure out how to get her phone fixed. She dropped it. They find out they can mail it back to the company which prompts a search of the house looking for an appropriate, small box. Burkie comes downstairs and I hear the two of them in the kitchen laughing and plotting something. I walked in, he turns to me with a Steve Carrell grin and hands me a small box and says, 'Happy Second Mother's Day'! Inside the box is a rabbit figurine - I used to collect these things for years...haven't gotten one in quite some time because we don't have space. I don't buy the insincere BS for a minute. When did you order this? Looking at the paperwork, it turns out it's been under his nightstand since 2002!!!! Happy Mother's Day to me! Oy - I guess it truly is the thought that counts!

Last Saturday, I couldn't put it off any longer.....I had to clean out the sewing room. There were piles of fabric on the floor, spilling out of containers and it was crying out for attention. I'm both embarrassed and proud to say that I discarded 8 trash bags full of old fabric, patterns and 'stuff'. When I started quilting and joined the guild, some of the older ladies were happy to 'donate' fabric to me - to get my stash started. And I kept it all...thinking it would be a shame to waste it, I might use it for something someday. Nope! It is so much neater, color coordinated and nice to be in. Starting a new project today! Hope you are all well...Dolores - how is Gracie? What's the diagnosis? What's up with the Italians? Hope to see y'all at LA's gig tonight. Enjoy the day - the thunder and lightning so far have been spectacular....no sleeping in today! Piece.....

A very pleasant evening....

What a nice night is was on Wednesday - and it continued into yesterday - just beautiful. Anyhow....the bee was very pleasant as well. We sat on the porch for a bit. Dolores, Cathy, Consuelo and myself. Caught up on some vacation stories and life. Dolores had a beautiful quilt that she made for her sister's shore house. It's made with Luna Notte from Moda - very sophisticated. The brown and white on the back is just stunning. Cathy shared her red, white and blue star quilt  - awesome! She made it with her scraps and it's is terrific.....very colorful. She also had a gift she is working on but it's a surprise - can't wait to hear the recipient's reaction! Consuelo is girding her loins for the Italian arrivals (not really, Bill.....just a metaphor!).  Mare is safely in Europe. Lois stopped by on Tuesday - she's looking well. She and George are good - and expecting Kara and her crowd next week on the 18th.  I finished a Christmas quilt - made with one jelly roll. Also completed our stick figure family portrait! Hope the rest of you girls are well and enjoying these last weeks of summer......have a nice weekend. Piece.....

Un-pleasant Valley Sunday

That was for you, Consuelo.....welcome back to this humidity. And welcome back to all the Quiltmama travelers....hope you all had a nice, relaxing vacation. It was a nice weather week here - hope it was where you were too. Is the wash done? Getting back in the Havertown routine? How about the non-travelers....how's everything? Anyone sewing? La - good news on your sister. Hope she's feeling ok....and how are you holding up in the heat? I have another container of fabric - I'm happy to host on Wednesday for those who can stop over. Did you notice the ticker on the right? The countdown is on to the first weekend in November...the Evergreen Home reservations have been made.....yay!!! Stay cool today and have a water ice....piece.

PS - ¡Buen viaje! to Mare and Chris Henderson as they leave for Spain on Tuesday with the youth group. Give the pope a fist bump from the 'Mamas! Have fun.....
