Oh my gosh...42+ yards!?!?!? JB, you are TOO funny! ; ) What ever are you going to make...?!

I don't know if I can make QM this evening. I'll try. You & your teaser are just about killing me!

I got the miniature done. It does need a label & to be laundered yet, but for all intents & purposes, it's DONE! : ) Hooray!!! I started to work on a sewing chatelaine for Barb. The directions are unclear. I'm going slow with it. I also have a jacket pattern that I'm looking at. I could use Marianne's help with it I think.

Alright, I must get to work. Maybe I'll write more later. Enjoy the weather...

Good Morning Girls,

How is everyone doing? How was your Thanksgiving?! Ours was nice. : )

Did you guys go to Lancaster on Saturday?! You had good weather! Who went? What shops did you go to?! What great stuff did everyone buy?!?!?!

I thought of you all as we drove through Lancaster on our way to York. We did stop @ Sauder's on our way home though. ; ) I found a jacket pattern I was looking for. I didn't even know that they sold patterns!

Enjoy the mild temperatures. Have a good week!

Girls,

Have a GREAT trip tomorrow!!! : ) What fun! Find some great bargains & share the stories - who got what, what was the best deal, where you went...you know...!?

Leigh Anne - have a nice time @ the wedding. The weather should be perfect!

Cathy - how are you doing? I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it to the viewing today. I've never been to a funeral mass before - I was intimidated. I am thinking of you & yours.

Lori - how was Black Friday? A success?! Scott heard 35,000 people were @ the Christianna Mall this morning when it opened @...3 AM!!!???!!!

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Good Morning,

I am missing you guys! I'm wondering what everyone has been working on - just holiday things...?! Turkey, gift lists, Black Friday strategies, hmmm, any sewing going on?! Leigh Anne, do you have the little drawstring bags sewn? How did they turn out?! Lori, how is your Santa coming? Will he be hanging in your home this Season?! ; ) Like I said earlier, I've been working on my miniature. I un-sewed the quilting I did...TWICE! Three's a charm, I'm satisfied with what I've done this time! Scott is a TOUGH critic, I NEED you guys!!! Next on my sewing list is a chatelaine for Barb. The fabrics came in yesterday's mail. The pattern directions aren't user friendly, there are a million small pieces which are to be traced onto paper, cut out & then traced onto fabric & cut out... Oh boy, this is going to be a challenge! I'd like to make a couple blocks for our December Guild meeting too. Is anyone else going to make Guild blocks?

Last Friday I did go to the Main Line Quilter's Guild meeting. The Guild is small, & many of the members are older. Karen's presentation was exceptional! She talked about the history of quilts & quilts in history. She brought 2 suitcases FILLED with her private collection of antique quilts. They were spectacular!!! She had an unbelievable Pennsylvania Album quilt done in teal & red, & a stunning Crazy Quilt done mostly in silks & satins! I felt fortunate to see such remarkable quilts up close 'cause usually these kinds of things are behind glass in a museum. Karen only does this talk @ local Guilds because she won't take these quilts on a flight. If anyone has the opportunity to see her Quilts In History @ any time, I encourage you to do sew! ; ) You won't be disappointed!

Well, non-traditionalists that Scott & I are, our Thanksgiving will be this evening. We're having seafood! We are SUCH rebels! In your homes, who is cooking, or are you going to another's home for the Holiday? Regardless, enjoy!!!

I am thankful for my Bee girls!!! Your friendship & our Bee is SO, SEW inspiring to me. Thank you one & all!

Good Morning Girls,

The blog site is temporarily down, so/sew here's a "blog" post...

Cathy - sorry to learn of your Grandmother's passing. Our hearts & prayers are with you & yours. Your Mom may need to be granted honorary Bee status though just for trying to schedule around the Saturday Lancaster trip! Bless you!

Mare - how many responded about the 12/8 Beach weekend? I know Mo said no. : / I can go & would SEW look forward to it!!!

Leigh Anne - are you ready for the wedding?!?!?! I am excited & I'm not even involved! : ) I want to see pictures, please! Have a spectacular time!!!

Jean - is your class over yet? The applique one is, right, but what about the Hunter's Star class

I won't be able to go to Lancaster on Saturday. Scott & I will be visiting my Mom & Ken for the day. We're getting our Christmas tree too! Also, for next week's Bee, 11/28, I can't make that either. : / I come back to work on Monday night (my Tuesday) & then have a staff meeting that same day - blah! : P

Hope everyone is getting a little stitching time in! I've been working on my miniature, & doing a bit of hand applique when I get the chance. Don't forget to take a few minutes out of your hectic days for some quiet piece & relaxation!!!

May everyone have a lovely Thanksgiving! : )

Good Morning Ladies,

Did everyone weather the storm? It was a doozy! Hopefully everyone is dry & everything is in it's place.

Jean, I want to thank you again for posting a Bee Musing!!! That was/is excellent. : ) This blog is exactly that - a community for our Bee & those who may just stop by for a visit.

I want to tell you something that I did last evening. I ripped out the "short log" in my George Sicilliano miniature quilt & corrected the problem. I SEW didn't think I would do that, but I realized it's LESS work to do the fix than to mask my mistake. I am proud of myself. : ) I even sewed on the borders, & now I'm ready to make my little quilt sandwich & quilt this puppy. Let's see if I can have it done for our December Guild meeting...?!

Karen is going to be @ The Mainline Quilter's Guild this morning. The meeting is @ 0930. I MAY try & make it...!

Enjoy the NICE weather & SMILE, it's FRIDAY!!!
Piece. Out.

Jean - THANKS!!! You did an AWESOME job!!! : ) I LOVE you!

Pam

Pam...we missed you as well. Cathy, Lois, Mare, Peggy and myself were in attendance. We sewed some little Christmas ornament things together for Leigh Anne while we sat there - Maureen breezed in with baby equipment for Lois, she whirlwinded around the room for a bit and then had to go - apparently, Bill is coaching basketball semi-full time and she could just pass through. Mare showed off all her purchases from the silent auction - we all had the same reaction to the apron - enough said. Peggy was tired - Mare made her walk from her house - but she did have a phone call from Richie the night before and he is very happy - so now she can sleep! Cathy's Dad may have to be operated on again - and her grandmother's condition has not changed...let's keep them all in our prayers. She promised to keep us informed. A few of us are interested in going to Lancaster next Saturday - of Thanksgiving weekend. Is that bad for you - do you go up to your Mom's? I hope you can come. I made the little snowman hanging we saw at the craft booth in OC - it was very easy. I'll give directions to whoever wants them. Think htat's about it - it was an early evening and we completed the ornaments - good job ladies. Can't have q'mamas next week - it'll be a hectic week anyhow... so everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving....and I'll send an e-mail about the upcoming Lancaster outing...enjoy the nice weather!Jean

Good Morning,

Sorry to have missed last evening's Bee. I had household chores to do! I missed you guys!!! What's the scuttlebutt...?! How is everyone? What's evryone up to? I did a little fabric shopping...@ Hancocks of Paducah. They had a bunch of Kaffe Fassett fabrics for $5.00 per yard!!! I also ordered some Michael Miller & Benartex fabrics to use for Barb gifts. : ) Fill me in on the news, & I'll "chat" with you another time.

Heya Ladies,

Yesterday's Pumpkin Social with the Guild was good! We learned paper piecing & embellishments. It was organized, & the project was doable. : ) They had coffee & donuts - what's not to like...?!

Tomorrow evening is our Guild meeting. The program is our Silent Auction. For those planning to attend, bring some $ or a personal check, & perhaps items to donate too! Also, the BOM (block of the month) is the Maple Leaf. It's to be done on a dark green background, using any Fall color for the leaf. The stem is to be brown - fabric or embroidered. I am kind of liking the BOM gig...!? : )

@ last Tuesday's Bee we talked about fabric shopping in Lancaster this uncoming Saturday (11/18). Is anyone in? I NEED to get fabric to make a sewing machine cover & chatelaine. I'm to make these items for Barb for Christmas & I MUST buy the fabrics - SOON!!! Can you let me know if we are actually going or not?! If not, I have to order fabric online ASAP... I'd rather go to Lancaster though! ; )

Hey Jean, before I forget - how did the Kosher Quilt turn out?! Did the lady like it?! Hurry up!!! You haven't said anything!!!

Okay, the computer is hiccupping & I don't want to lose this post. "Talk" with you later!

HOUSTON...

It was an incredible experience. The quilts, vendor's, teachers, & people from all over the globe - neat-o!!! I met women from Scotland, New Zealand, Japan, Alaska, lots from California, Illinois, Michigan, etc!

Some things I learned...

>Fabric grain is ALWAYS more tightly woven running with the selvage edge. This can cause puckers when sewn.

>Machine quilting a large quilt is done in thirds by Sue Nickels. She begins @ the top middle & works her way down the quilt, turning & pivoting as she sews.

>The color RED is read as BLACK. Put it on a photocopier & see what you get. In a colorful quilt, you can use RED as you darkest dark for effective contrast.

>Excellent techniques in construction & quilting can be learned & done by anyone. Make YOUR quilt interesting & draw in the viewer by using color effectively!!! Or, use some asymmetry. The Amish are on to something with their use of color & sewing a "humility block" in each quilt!

>Color is intuitive!!! We (in the USA) socialize it out of people! Always go with your gut instinct!

>I can't...does nothing.
I can...does something.
I will...does wonders!!!

I was a Quilt Angel on Friday morning while @ Houston. I'd have to say that this was one of THE BEST experiences I had while @ the Festival!!! I arrived a half hour before the doors were opened for IQA members, there were just a few of us Angels flying around & I got to look, no, really LOOK @ the quilts. It was awesome!!! Also, later that morning I was the Angel/white glove lady for the $10,000 quilt.

Here are some vendor's that I liked. Check out their websites...

Good Morning!

I was glad to see you @ the Bee! : )

Jean - your Hunter's Star quilt is awesome! I LOVE the quilting!!!

Marianne - I like your Hunter's Star too! Are you going to quilt it the same way as Jean's? Thanks also for making the arrangements for staying in Lancaster in April. : ) Good job!

Cathy - I like the Beach Blankets you make! And, you're going to make a Hunter's Star too, huh?! I like your fabrics.

Lois - your sons quilt has turned out SEW neat! Is it for Christmas? He's going to like it a lot. : ) I like the panels you bought @ the new quilt shop!

Maureen - thanks for using the blog & "going to the Houston Quilt Festival!!!" Thanks also for taking hexagons to press. I don't think it's going to be too long before you're actually sewing...?! : )

Leigh Anne - the wedding is coming up! Get those bags made!!! You are SO/SEW amusing about color! I must just drive you crazy!?!?

Peggy - hey girl! Who won Backgammon? Do you know how to play Acey Deucey?

I have some small projects I have to work on before I begin to baste my Trip Around the World quilt. Meanwhile, the Dresden Plate is waiting too. I am to sew a chatelaine for Barb for Christmas. I looked @ the directions twice & they are confusing... I have a sweatshirt cardigan to make too. And, there's something else on my list, but I can't remember what...? Does anyone have the materials list for the Pumpkin Social project?! I had mine, but now they're lost & I have no idea what we need to take?! HELP! The Pumpkin Social is from 9:30 to 4:00.

Enjoy today's sunshine!
